If you’re looking for fresh fish, go no further than A Peixaria. This restaurant in Parque das Nações (the easternmost region of Lisbon) gets a daily supply that arrives in the early morning, coming from the fishing ports of Setúbal, Sesimbra e Peniche. One of the most pleasant features is the view, since it allows you to glance at the river while you’re having a nice meal. As one would expect, fish is under the highlights and the menu is filled with several suggestions. But meat fans are not forgotten and they can choose between assorted steaks and Argentinian picanha. A Peixaria is open all days of the week and smokers are allowed.
During week days, A Peixaria offers an economical dish for lunch, whereas for dinner you can always find a suggestion made and created by the chef himself. As already said, the menu consists mainly of seafood, including stewed cuttlefish, fisherman’s fish, caldeirada, lobster rice, white grouper or lobster pasta and monkfish rice. For dessert, make sure you try the typical Azeitão pies (based on eggs) or the self-proclaimed best chocolate cake in the world.
